NY Daily News Image :The Price of Beauty

Whether you love, like or dislike Jessica Simpson, the girl knows how to stay relevant. In a world when most of the world is at times forced to feel that their ideal beauty has no comparison to the western world’s view of ideal beauty, I’m very excited for this show to air. This is a chance for many of us to try and understand the standards of beauty of other cultures. So I urge you to at least watch the first Episode before you dismiss it, just because it’s Jessica Simpson.

Brooklyn’s Finest

So I normally just watch a short trailer of a movie and determine whether I’m going to spend 10 bucks to see it. I was lucky enough recently to receive an invite to see an advance screening of  the movie Brooklyn’s Finest. After seeing this movie I plan to do extensive research on any movie I have an interest seeing. I say this because a person can go watch a movie and completely misinterpret the director’s intent for the movie. Also its very easy to watch a movie that you think you enjoy and later realize it has an underlying meaning that goes against everything you stand for.

Brooklyn’s Finest is a movie that hits you in the face with the harsh realities police officers face all around the country. Director Antonie Fuqua took me on an emotional ride with his characters that at times had me stressing out throughout the movie. There are strong symbolisms throughout the movie, so pay close attention. Don Cheadle, Ethan Hawke, and Richard Gere did phenomenal jobs with their roles. Overall, I say it’s a great movie to see and a definite conversation starter.  I give the movie 3.5 stars out of 5!! Let me know what you thought of the movie when it comes out March 5th, 2010.

Megan Wants A Millionaire Drama!!!!! August 20, 2009

So CNN just mentioned an investigation going on about one of the show’s only attractive guy(Ryan Alexander Jenkins). So apparent he called into the police saying his girlfriend was missing, then he went missing himself. When the police found the girlfriend, she was strangled to death and stuffed in a suitcase. Holly Shit!!!!! Who knew soo much could come from a silly little show from VH1. VH1, has now postponed airing of the show until further notice.  Below is a full article about it, I pulled from

Megan Wants a Millionaire’ suitor named ‘person of interest’ in murder

By Christopher Rocchio, 08/19/2009

Ryan Alexander Jenkins, a suitor on VH1’s currently airing Megan Wants a Millionaire reality dating series, has been named a “person of interest” by police in the death of Jasmine Fiore.

Jenkins reported the 28-year-old swimsuit model missing on Saturday and her body was subsequently found in a suitcase by a man who was searching a metal trash bin for recyclables in Buena Park, The Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.

Buena Park police told The Times that it appeared Fiore had been strangled and want to question Jenkins, a 32-year-old real estate developer from Calgary who is a Canadian national.

“Ryan is currently speaking to his attorney and will fully cooperate with the police in this matter,” Jenkins’ publicist told TMZ on Tuesday.  “He is planning on meeting with them in the near future.”

While Fiore’s mother Lisa Lapore told The Times that Jenkins and Fiore had been dating at the time of her death, Megan Wants a Millionaire bachelorette Megan Hauserman claims Jenkins and Fiore were actually married.

“He met her after the show… They’re married.  It was his wife.  They got married in Vegas,” Hauserman told TMZ in a Tuesday interview, adding Jenkins and Fiore met at the Las Vegas club where Fiore worked as a dancer.  “I think they got married after two days.”

Buena Park police told The Times they are still trying to determine the nature of Jenkins and Fiore’s relationship and acknowledged they are aware of “suggestions” that the couple had been married in Las Vegas.

Lapore — who had been staying with her daughter at her Fairfax district home in Los Angeles — told The Times that Jenkins and Fiore left together on Thursday for a poker tournament in San Diego.

“They had issues, but I didn’t hear anything extreme,” Lapore told The Times. “I’m worried they had a major blowout. Jasmine is pretty feisty and doesn’t back down easily.”

Megan Wants a Millionaire premiered on VH1 earlier this month, and during the debut Hauserman dubbed Jenkins with the nickname “Smooth Operator.”  Upon meeting Hauserman, Jenkins was billed as a having a net worth of $2.5 million.

“I’m just completely horrified that this could happen,” she told TMZ.  “I think it’s terrible, and I feel really sorry for the girl and her family.”

Hauserman described Jenkins as a “really nice guy” who is “very charming, very educated and mature” with a “really positive attitude.”

“He was always very nice and kind to me,” she told TMZ.  “This is something I would never expect from him. He would be the least likely person I would ever expect to do something like this.  He was so nice… He was always really calm and collected.”

Jenkins is still one of 10 suitors in the running for Hauserman’s heart on Megan Wants a Millionaire, which currently airs in the Sundays at 9PM ET/PT timeslot on VH1.

While Hauserman confirmed Megan Wants a Millionaire has finished filming, she declined to comment on the last time she saw Jenkins.

“I don’t think I can talk about that,” she told TMZ.

So the Associated Press just ran a full article on the update to this crazy story. Not only did he kill her, he clearly couldn’t take the guilt and took his own life. He not only shot “Megan wants a millionaire” he also shot”I love money” which clearly will not air if they pulled the plug on megan’s show. Poor megan, all she wanted was a little fame, now she’s always going to be tied to this tragic story.

Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami Premiere August 17, 2009

So I’m watching the season premiere of K and K Take Miami. It is really funny to hear these girls talk about being pulled in so many directions. Hello, you made the decision  to be involved in what you are doing. Don’t complain!!! There are people out here with no job, so if you have more than 5, count your blessings.

Thank God, I only have one sister. If I had two more of me to deal with everyday I would go nuts. I guess that explains their behaviors.

Khloe maybe the smallest but it’s great to see her stepping up as big sis and mediating their fight. Khloe’s Radio show, Khloe in the Dark seems like lots of fun. Khloe’s make out scene makes me blush!!! smokin!

Is it just me or did the episode end randomly.  Any hoo, can’t wait to see next week’s episode. Ladies of DASH keep bringing the fun and crazy.

Dating in the Dark

Dating in the Dark

Dating in the Dark has become one of my favorite show after Bachelorette ended. It brings up some great social topics. I’ve actually discussed having a date in the dark with my boyfriend. The show is slowing showing that looks truley do matter. To me that’s not a bad thing at all. Why shouldn’t you be physically attracted to the person you’re with. What I’ve taken  from the show thous far, is that: 1. physical attraction is important however, don’t let it get in the way of love. I can say if you go into every friendship and relationship with the mindset that its all about their personality, you will be surprised who you end up finding attract. Test it out for a few weeks and get back to me!

So You Think You Can Dance July 31, 2009

Janette Manrara

Janette Manrara

So when Janette Manrara of SYTYCD went home last week. It really showed that the show is about personally and looks first before dance ability. I mean the girl was perfection when it came to dancing. Jeanine doesn’t compare in my opinion to Janette, however she has the overall sexy starlet look that most of the viewers like. When I say she doesn’t compare, people must understand that All the dancers are all extremely talented. Same goes for the guys. The clear favorite is Brandon. As I’m watching the show my prediction for the guy and girl winners are Brandon and Jeanine!!! I must say the Java Walkies are doing a great job of sustaining their longevity. From show appearances to mega commercial deals. Great job.

It’s 9:37 p.m. in Atl,GA and I’m saying  that Jeanine will be America’s Favorite Dancer.

BLACK IN AMERICA…JUST ASK CHARLES GATES by Warren Ballentine July 27, 2009

I ran across this contributing article by Warren Ballentine. It poses some very interesting point.

The first thing I noticed was the quote from the President. I wonder how  people feel about the president in a sense taking the side of the “accused’ instead of  taking the tradional role of riding the fence.

As far as Ballentines comments about be profiled, it is true, it will happen to every black individual sometime in their life. It has happend to me on a few occasions, but it is how you react to it that truly determines your outcome. Everyone read and leave your comments about what you think of this issue in America today.

Nikki Barjon, 404. 419.6648 or 404.514.9992

On July 16, 2009, Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., 58, the Alphonse Fletcher University Professor of Harvard University, was headed from Logan airport to his home at 17 Ware St. in Cambridge after spending a week in China, where he was filming his new PBS documentary entitled “Faces of America.” Professor Gates was driven to his home by a driver for a local car company. Professor Gates attempted to enter his front door, but the door was damaged. Professor Gates then entered his rear door with his key, turned off his alarm, and again attempted to open the front door. With the help of his driver they were able to force the front door open, and then the driver carried Professor Gates’ luggage into his home.

After receiving a call about two black males forcing entry into a home, the police arrived. At this point Gates was already inside and later displayed his ID upon request. After accusing the officer of racial profiling he was arrested by the Cambridge police for exhibiting “loud and tumultuous behavior”.

President Barack Obama weighed in on the arrest of Henry Louis Gates Jr. “…I think it’s fair to say, number one, any of us would be pretty angry; number two, that the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home.”

It’s amazing to me that in 2009 and even after having a Black President we are still being racially profiled. The kicker is that this cop, Sgt. James Crowley is refusing to apologize even though all the charges have been dropped against Gates.

I must admit I am glad Gates got arrested…why? This is could be a Seminole moment in the United States. Just like when the North saw the dogs and water hoses in the South. When the world saw the beat down that Rodney King took. This too is a wake up call to America. I know all too well as a lawyer and Black man that we as a people are charged with false claims every single day. Thousands of young African men get arrested all over this country and plead guilty for charges they didn’t commit.

It is big money in locking up Americans, especially Blacks in this country. 2 million Americans are locked up in this country. 1 million yes, I said 1 million…half are Black. Professor Gates, although highly educated has been treated just like the rest of Blacks in this country. Black in America to me simply means it’s just a matter of time before you will be arrested or profiled too. Just think, if this can happen to a Harvard professor what about you and me?
